Tranquilizers
Tranquilizers are the one which cools down the central nervous system, decreases emotional disturbances. It is quiet different from hypnotic drugs and does not affect the brain’s cortical areas but affects the lower part of it.
Tranquilizers are of two types. They are, major and minor tranquilizers. The earlier one is known as Neuropletics and antipsychotic and is less abused. Some of its examples are Thorazine, Haldol, Clozaril and Ridispersal. The later one is very commonly abused as anti-anxiety drugs or anxiolytics. It depresses the central nervous system. It is swallowed as a tablet and also available in the form of liquid.
The side effects of minor tranquilizers on the over dosages are:-
- drowsiness
- calmness
- Lightheadedness

- lethargy
- Hallucination
- Instability in speech and thought
- Dry mouth and irritability
- Nausea
The effects of major tranquilizers are:-
Stomach cramps, diarrhea, fluke problems, heart palpitation, delusions, paranoia and hallucinations. More doses can endanger the life too.
Tranquilizers are the most commonly used therapeutic agents and one type of sedative which are used in suicidal cases accidental over dosages.
To stop the use of this sedatives and tranquilizers the rehab centers in US put their best effort. Through the recovery programs they try to realize the client about h harmful effects of abuse an accordingly they set plans for treatment. The treatment has shown nearly best outcomes.
