Ketamine {2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino)-cyclohexanone} is developed by Parke-Davis in 1962 for use in human and veterinary medicine. It is classified as is classified as an NMDA receptor antagonist. Street terms for Ketamine are jet, super acid, Special "K", green, K, cat Valium. It is usually injected, smoked, insufflated or taken orally. It is used in human medicine as an anesthetic. It is usually sold in liquid, tablet and powdered (white or off-)form.
The effects of Ketamine in humans are analgesia, elevated blood pressure, anesthesia, hallucinations, delirium, amnesia, depression, and long-term memory and cognitive difficulties and bronchodilation. Its smoke has a bitter taste. Sub-anesthetic doses of Ketamine may induce feelings of euphoria, dreamy detachment, floating weightlessly away from one's body-image, deep mystical insights, loss of normal time sense and an altered phenomenology of thought. High doses of Ketamine produce an effect referred to as "K-Hole," an "out of body," or "near-death" experience.
